The Thing You Like Most About Teaching: It is exciting when the “light bulb” comes on and the students make connections to what they are being taught. I also love that every day is a new day and I have the opportunity to inspire and make a positive difference in the lives of my students.
The Thing You Find Most challenging About Teaching: There never seems to be enough time in the day to fit everything in; there is always more that I want or need to do.
Best Tip for New Teachers: Students will learn and are inspired when they feel safe and encouraged. Relationships are the key! Get to know your staff students, & the families; show that you really care. Also, ask for help when you need it. There are amazing teachers out there who are willing to share ideas and give good advice.
Best Tip for Career Teachers: Be willing to learn new things.
Favorite Piece of Advice for Students: Be safe, be kind, be a learner, be a leader. Also know that it’s okay to make mistakes- learn from them and move on.
What Being a Gold Star Teacher Means to You: I feel incredibly honored and am humbled to have been chosen for this award. I am very thankful to all of my coworkers, mentors, my own teachers, and everyone else who has helped me along the way in becoming the person and teacher that I am today.
