During the month of February, the R.J. McElroy Trust received 1,267 nominations for 568 teachers for the Gold Star award for Outstanding Teaching. While these numbers are a little lower than last year’s, that hasn’t stopped the Trust from breaking another record! Out of the 568 nominated teachers, the Trust received 173 applications. This is a ten percent increase from the number of teachers that applied in 2012. It has also broken the record for most teachers to apply for the award in one year!
On May 20, the R.J. McElroy Trust and KWWL Television will recognize the 2013 recipients at the 25th annual “Gold Star Award for Outstanding Teaching” ceremony.
In late May, every nomination is sent to the named teacher, so he/she may learn of his/her impact on a student.
