As you know, the Gold Star Awards are designed to acknowledge the commitment of all teachers, and recognize outstanding teachers. This year, ten $1,000 awards will be given to Black Hawk County teachers at an awards program May 23, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on UNI’s campus.
We encourage all eligible teachers to apply! We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, teaching specialties, and schools. We’d love to hear about your good work.
The Selection Committee will consider primarily the nominee’s classroom effectiveness, impact on students, and unique teaching activities. Secondarily, the Committee will consider the nominee’s leadership among peers and commitment to the teaching profession. Overall, they will be looking for stories, specific examples, and details. Please limit your response to one page.
We realize you are very busy, and it is difficult for some teachers to “toot their own horn.” Students, parents, and/or colleagues took the time to nominate you; don’t let them down. Please complete and submit an application. Receiving the Gold Star Award is a wonderful experience and well worth your time.
All applications must be submitted online no later than midnight on March 20, 2017.
