It’s no secret that great teachers know their students. Mrs. McKeown, a 6th grade Literacy teacher at Hoover Middle School, noticed her students were a little sluggish in the mornings. After conducting an intelligence test, she noticed many of her students had strength in musical intelligence. This inspired her to get her students’ blood pumping. Using the tune to “I’ve Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, she created and choreographed a song called “Gotta Keep Reading Hoover.” Not only was this song the perfect way to actively engage her students, but it got them excited about reading.
As the song says, they’ve “Gotta keep reading, cause this book’s gonna be a good book.”[slide]To watch the Reading Flash Mob, click here!
