Thankful forTeachers!

By December 2, 2011 Local Interest

Giving thanks is not just for Thanksgiving.  As the first part of the school year comes to an end, we want to take a few minutes to give thanks to the area’s exceptional teachers.  Here are a few of our favorite Gold Star nominations from 2011.  Enjoy! (And don’t wait until Thanksgiving to tell a teacher thank you!)

“She has encouraged and helped me reach some of my lifetime goals, such as to go to college.  She has believed in me not as a student, but as a person.  Because of her I am in classes people said I couldn’t take, like Chemistry.  She is the best teacher!”  -High School Student

“I don’t ever want to leave 2nd grade, mom!” Those were the words my son shared with me last week.  Of course, I panicked.  What?  Where did that come from?  So, I responded, “What do you mean?”  He made it very clear, “I don’t ever want to leave Miss D.  She’s the best teacher ever!” -Parent and former Gold Star Teacher

“Mr. K was an amazing teacher.  I never understood history.  I always found it boring, but he made it fun.  I passed his class with an A.  That was the first A I’ve gotten in History.”  High School Student

“Mrs. G is our professional development leader. When she challenges people to be better than they think they can be, attitudes change.  Every school and community needs a Mrs. G.”     -Colleague

“I was so nervous to send my little girl to kindergarten.  Mrs. H has not only helped her to open up and grow as a person, but she has also helped me as a mom.” -Parent
