What do you enjoy most about teaching? Just the opportunity to try to make someone’s day just a little bit better everyday

What do you find most challenging about teaching? Getting kids to the pinnacle of success when they have come in with a fixed mindset against math. It is a long process of hard work, but it is also very rewarding when you see those students start to experience success.

Best tip for new teachers: Work hard to create meaningful relationships with students, have an open-door policy, and never feel bad for making and admitting mistakes in front of the classroom.

Best tip for career teachers: Continue to believe in kids even if they don’t believe in themselves. Someday they will find it.

Favorite piece of advice for students: Failing to plan is planning to fail. Also, sometimes the right thing to do is the hard thing to do, but always do the right thing.

What being a Gold Star Teacher means to you: It validates many of the beliefs I have had about working hard and doing the right thing for kids so that they can be successful.
